A service to celebrate the life of Joan Sowell Vincent, 79, of Kershaw, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2011, in First Baptist Church where she was a member .

Mrs. Vincent, widow of Robert Lewis " R.L. " Vincent died Sunday, January 30, at her home. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Luther and Ila Gay Sowell.

She enjoyed cooking, reading and was a homemaker.

Surviving are 2 sons; Larry Vincent and his wife Donna of Kershaw, Toby Vincent and his wife Vickie of Lugoff, 6 grandchildren; Jennifer Ellis (Russell), Susan Mullis (Tommy), Ben Vincent (Margie), Christie Whitehouse (Chad), Michelle Creel (Gilbert), Tony Vincent (Claire), 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 3 sisters; Carlene Dorman (Roy), of Kershaw, Grace Roberts of Kershaw, Inez Hatchell of Florence, a brother, Clifford Sowell (Betty) and a sister-in-law; Myrtis Sowell of Camden. She was preceded in death by a brother; Paul Sowell.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, February 3, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Senior Adult Wing of First Baptist Church.
