John C. Saunders, III, of Ellenwood, Ga., died August 3, 2012. He was the son of J.C. and Jerry Saunders of Camden, S.C. There will be a memorial service Thursday, Aug. 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Camden First Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Hancock officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 Fair St., Camden, S.C. 29020. Inturment will be held for family only at Quaker Cemetery.
John was born April 23, 1956 in Augusta, Ga. He graduated from Camden High School, class of 1974, and attended Devry University in Atlanta, Ga. He was employed by Bombardier at Harts Field, Atlanta Ga. John enjoyed hunting and marathon races. He has competed in the 100 mile overnight race at Ellerbe, N.C. twice. He enjoyed reading and the Internet. Surviving are his mother Jerry Saunders, of Camden; his wife Teresa Mary, of the home, two sons, Zack (Lori) of Marietta, Ga. and Lyle (Amber) of Stockbridge, Ga., and two daugthers, Jennie Saunders, of Stockbridge, Ga, and SPEC4 Jessica Saunders of Fort Knox, KY.; granddaughter Rachel McElhoney, of Stockbridge, Ga.; sister, Laura S. Saunders of Charleston, S.C.; nieces Danielle Davis (Jim), of Saraland, Ala., Mary Barnhill (Ryan) of Eight Mile, Ala.; a nephew, Willie Truesdale, of Camden, S.C.; and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, J.C. Saunders; his aunt and uncle, Bill and Nancy Saunders; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
