John McKenzie, Jr.

John Israel "Corky" McKenzie. Jr., 62, of Lynchburg, husband of Lynette Atkinson McKenzie, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Tuomey Medical Center.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late John I. McKenzie, Sr. and the late Hannah Sumner McKenzie.

He was retired from DuPont and was a member of Elliott Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John McKenzie (Cindy) of Columbia and Matt McKenzie (Laurie) of Elgin; grandchildren; Hannah Grace McKenzie, and Lauren and Dillon Wood; a sister; Beth Ballew (Jim) of Greenville two brothers; Jimmy McKenzie and Edgar "Snooky" McKenzie (Voncile) both of Greenville; and several special nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at 3:00 P. M. Tuesday at Wells Cemetery, Elliott, SC with the Rev. Robert Griggs and Mr. Jim Ballew officiating.

Pallbearers were Charles Ellison, Eddie Brown, Junior Hopkins, Johnny Moore, Justin Ballew, and Jerry Windham.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home 3856 Lynchburg Hwy., Lynchburg.

Memorials may be made to the Wells Cemetery Fund, Mrs. Carol A. Richardson, 2289 Dog Island Road, Bishopville, SC 29010; the St. Luke Cemetery Fund, Mrs. Mollie Moore, 60 Bradley Road, Bishopville, SC 29010; or to Elliott Baptist Church Mrs. Albert Berdeau, 2333 Wisacky Hwy, Bishopville, SC 29010.
