Funeral services celebrating the life of John Milton Deal, 86, of Lake Wateree, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Camden, SC. Rev. John L. Hallman III and Rev. Dr. Chip Summers will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service in John Knox Hall at the church. Memorials may be made in Jack’s memory to Honor Flight, Inc., 300 E. Auburn Ave., Springfield, OH 45505-4703 or Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020 or a charity of choice.
Mr. Deal, husband of Patricia Hallman Deal, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012. He was the son of the late Milton Harvey Deal and Mamie Mickle Deal McNulta. Born in Camden, he was co-owner of Deal’s Marina on Lake Wateree for 25 years, with his wife, Pat. Jack was also known for his craftsmanship for building many retaining walls and piers on Lake Wateree. He also gave many area high school students their first summer job at Deal’s Marina. Following retirement from the marina, Jack was employed by Duke Energy as a lake monitor. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army in Korea, having been honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1956. Jack received the Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 17, and the Lake Wateree Association. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 51 years, Patricia Hallman Deal; daughter, Suzanne Deal of Lake Wateree; son, John M. "Johnny" Deal, Jr. (Annah) of Camden; grandchildren; Rachel Webb Elliott, 2nd Lt. James C. "Jimmy" Webb, III, Margaret Lane Deal and Emily C. Deal. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Bobby and Billy Deal.
