Funeral services honoring the life of John Thomas Haynes, Jr., 78, of Camden, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Camden. Burial will follow at Quaker Cemetery. Reverend Bruce Hancock and Dr. Frankie Melton will officiate. The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 25, 2012 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Mr. Haynes died Friday, March 23, 2012. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late John T., Sr. and Margaret Cleo McCaskill Haynes. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Camden for 58 years. He was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church where he taught the Men's Sunday School Class. Mr. Haynes was a Deacon Emeritus. A U.S. Army Veteran, Mr. Haynes was retired from DuPont after 39 years. He was a Mason, a member of the Lions Club, volunteer fireman and a survivor of the Speaks Oil Company fire in 1955.
Surviving are his wife, Marcia Hunter Haynes, 2 sons: John Thomas Haynes, III (Kim) and Jay Wilson Haynes (Lynn); grandchildren: John Wilson Haynes (Michelle), Mary Joanna Haynes, Maryann Elizabeth Haynes, Savanna Lynn Haynes; sisters: Patsy Cassady (John), Martha Womack (Jimmy) and Jeanne Hanley (Steve). He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann Wilson Haynes.
