A memorial service to honor the life of Joseph Clyburn “Joe” Jackson, 90, of Camden, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church, 1315 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC. The Reverend Dr. Philip Whitehead will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service in Richardson Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe’s memory to Grace Episcopal Church, 1315 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Joe died Saturday, June 4, 2016. He was born in Camden, SC, the son of the late William Leslie Jackson and Janie Grace Tidwell Jackson Stokes. Joe was the retired former owner of Traders of Camden. He was a U.S. Navy WW II Veteran and a retired chief warrant officer with the South Carolina National Guard. Joe was a 1949 graduate of Clemson University and was a Life Donor of IPTAY and an IPTAY Representative. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where he was a former member of the Vestry and a Junior Warden. Joe was also a member of the Camden Rotary Club and James Leroy Belk Post 17 of the American Legion.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sidney Dunbar Jones Jackson of Camden, SC; daughters, Lyn Godwin of Camden, SC, and Mary Jackson Willis (Richard H. Willis) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Joseph R. Jackson, Lianne J. McCray, Richard Prescott Willis, and Sarah Bradford Willis; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Marion Jackson; and his dog Shelby.

Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son, Randolph Dunbar Jones Jackson, son-in-law Ed Godwin; brothers W. L. Jackson, Claude Jackson, Carlyle Jackson, and Herman Jackson; sisters Elizabeth Julian and Susan Shannon.

The family would like to thank Joe’s faithful caretakers David Knight, Hattie Loynes, Ruth Ladson, and Cathy Gregory for their loving attention.
