Karen Moore Lynch, 67, widow of Dennis R. Lynch died, Wednesday, June 1, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Born in Greenville, SC she was the daughter of the late Gary and Edna Moore of Seneca, SC and the granddaughter of the late C.P. and Lelia Moore of Westminister and William and Annie Sanders of Courtney. She was predeceased by her sister, Gail Hopkins and her beloved uncle and aunt Joseph and Virginia Clark. Karen was educated in Oconnee County schools, graduating from Seneca High School in 1962. She attended the University of South Carolina graduating in 1966 she then earned two masters degrees from USC. She began her career in service to the people of SC at the Office of Equal Opportunity in Camden. Karen also worked for DHEC in Columbia for 30 years where she rose to the position of Deputy Director. Karen loved fast cars, dogs, horses and USC football. She and Dennis were members of the Gamecock Club for over 30 years and rarely missed home game. She also loved to entertain family, friends and collegues in her home in the Woodlands of Columbia. Karen was a kind and good soul who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her niece Toni Jones and her husband Mitch of VA; three great nephews, Ryan, Mike and Chris of VA; cousins, Dianne M. Harper of Liberty, Joyce M. Owens of Westminister, Caroline M. Sullivan of Westminister, Darrell Honeycutt, Ann Barfield, Pat Turner, of Seneca, Howell Clark of Elgin and Les Clark ("her little brother") and his wife Tina of Columbia and uncle Pete Moore of Westminister.

The family would like to thank her caregivers over the last years especially, Linda Moneghan, Barbara Verzyl, Karen Rambo, Sandie Robinson, Dr. Craig Maylath and his staff and the Staff of the Rehabilitation and Care Center of the Lowman Home.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of will be held Monday, June 6, 2011 at 6:00 PM at Hermitage Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Hopkins will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to the General Scholarship Fund of USC or Hermitage Baptist Church Food Pantry, 814 Jefferson Davis Highway, Camden, SC 29020.
