Graveside service for Larry Benjamin Kilgore, 68, formally of Lugoff, will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia. Funeral service was held Saturday at Varennes Heights Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Varennes Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Kilgore was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. He served in the United States Air Force with the 536th Tactical Squadron and served in Vietnam. He attended Anderson College and received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree from Clemson University and his MBA from Furman University.
Larry was a former plant manager of Cogsdill Tool Company and retired from the United States Postal Service in Columbia. He was a funding trustee of the Kershaw County Vocational Education Foundation, Inc. and was currently active with the foundation. He was a member of Cross Point Church in Lugoff and attended Varennes Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Evans Mackey Kilgore; daughters, Amy K. Frieb (Marc) of Elgin and Emily K. Laffin (Trey) of Camden; grandchildren, Abby and Amanda Frieb and Jake and Mollie Grace Laffin; brother, Clarence Thomas Kilgore (Joyce) of Greenwood. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jackie Duff Kilgore.
