A graveside service to celebrate the life of Lois Julia Peebles Pearce, age 97, was held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rembert, SC.  The Rev. Michael Arant officiated.  It was a beautiful spring-like day without a cloud in the sky.

Mrs. Pearce died on Sunday, February 10, 2019.  Born in Lee County, SC she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Mignon Geneva Breedlove Peebles.  Lois was a nurse who spent her entire career caring for others and retired from the Karesh Wing at Kershaw County Memorial Hospital after 25 years.  She was a simple country woman, who was tough as nails, but who loved “purty” things and the color pink.  She was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church where she sat on the same pew and was a member for over 70 years.

Surviving Lois are her son, Edward Cantey Pearce, III (Henrietta) of Chesterfield, VA; grandsons Christopher Cantey Pearce (Heather) of Richmond, VA and Steven Lindley Murray of Chesterfield, VA; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Peebles Ford of Columbia; sister-in-law Edith Jordan Peebles of Columbia and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Cantey Pearce, Jr. and her son, Charles “Peep” Peebles Pearce.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery fund, 4021 Springhill Rd, Rembert, SC 29128, in her memory.
