Mr. Louis Gold, 83, formerly of Newberry, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center, Bishopville, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Chapel of Rememberance, Brown’s Funeral Home, with internment to follow in the Cedars Cemetery, Camden. Mr. Gold was born August 31, 1929, in Awendaw, South Carolina, to the late William and Rosa Lee Simmons Gold. Mr. Gold loved music while at Jenkins Orphanage in North Charleston, South Carolina, where he learned to play the guitar. In later years, he played and sang in quartets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. Louis is survived by his cousin, Edna Steed Stradford of Camden, SC; step-children and other relatives and friends. Mr. Gold was predeceased by his two wives; brother, John; sister, Frances. Brown’s Funeral Home, Camden, is serving the Gold family.
