A private memorial service for Lucinda Walker Kirkland, of Camden, SC will be held at a later date. She was born in Schenectady, NY and was the daughter of Patricia Walker Kirkland and the late Randolph Withers Kirkland, Jr. Lucinda died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 after a long illness. She first graduated from the University of South Carolina and worked for the University at the Wedge Plantation’s International Center for Public Health Research. She later graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Health professions as a cytotechnologist. She practiced in both Carolinas until her retirement in 2015. Memorials may be made in Lucinda’s memory to the Meyer-Thiel Animal Adoption Center, 128 Black River Road, Camden, SC 29020. 

She is survived by her mother, and sisters, Fredricka Arthur of San Diego and Molly Kirkland of Seattle, and her nieces Rebecca Capen Dale of Seattle, Emily Lucinda Dale of Columbia, SC and Elizabeth Lane Arthur of New York City.

She was predeceased by her father and her brother Randolph Kirkland,III.
