A funeral service to celebrate the life of Margaret Annetta “Peggy” Fant, 76, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM today, March 18, 2015 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Camden. Margaret Annetta Fant passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Columbia, Peggy was the daughter of the late Margaret and J. C. Fant. She spent her early years in Winnsboro and graduated from Mt. Zion Institute. Peggy graduated from Furman University in 1960 with a degree in education. She later received her Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University. Peggy had a career in education, as both an elementary school teacher as well as school librarian, having worked in many schools in Kershaw and Richland counties.

Peggy was devoted to her family, faith, and community. She was a dedicated member of Lakeview Baptist Church, with service as a choir member and deacon. Peggy volunteered at KCMC and as a transporter for breast cancer patients. She shared her love for reading through the Adult Literary Society as a tutor, and as a member of the Friends of the Kershaw County Library. Peggy was a Master Gardener, a member of the Red Hat Society-Plum Crazy Chapter, an avid card player-belonging to the “Remedial Bridge Club” and a crossword puzzle expert. She loved spending time with family and friends. Peggy was a loyal, as well as loving friend and gracious always.

Mrs. Fant is survived by one sister, Nancy Fant Boykin of Camden; four nieces, three nephews and many other family members and great friends. She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Gena Jo Fant Rabon. Peggy will be remembered for her sweet, giving spirit by all who were fortunate to know and love her.
