Memorial service to celebrate the life of Margaret Rebecca Cunningham Funderburk Williams of the Camden and the Lugoff area will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. William F. Summers will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in John Knox Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. William’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Association-Mid State-SC, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste 100, W. Columbia, SC 29169.
Mrs. Williams is the wife of Henry B. "Hank" Williams, Jr and was first married to the late L. O. Funderburk, Jr., died Monday, January 17, 2011. Born in Camden, she was the daughter of the late James G. Cunningham and Rebecca Brown Cunningham. She was the first switchboard operator at DuPont and was later co-owner of Funderburk Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and was active in the Ladies Circle. She was a Real Estate Broker, a local artist and a member of the Fine Arts Center. Mrs. Williams was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her husband, Henry B. Williams, Jr.; daughters. Alice Funderburk Alley and her husband Frank, of Gainesville, GA, Elaine Funderburk Nicholson, Frances Funderburk Williams both of Camden; grandchildren, Rebecca Alley Golden, Jennifer Alley Crider, Victoria Nicholson, Luther Williams and Hagan Williams; great-grandchild Isla Crider; sister Minnie Belle Cunningham Moore of Monroeville, AL.; nieces and nephews; step-children, Susan, Henry, Nancy, Bob and Gary. She was predeceased by a son James Stephen Funderburk and sister Frances Marion Cunningham.
