Mary Elizabeth Sparks Goode

Mary Elizabeth Sparks Goode, 82, of 2225 Cottage Lane, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Elzie Goode and the daughter of the late Clyde Webb Sparks and Ethel Parker Sparks. She loved to fish and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Goode was retired from textiles, a homemaker and a member of Goucher Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Johnny Goode and wife, Marlene of Gaffney, Donald W. Goode and wife, Debbie of Pacolet, Clyde Andy Goode of Pacolet and Joe Paul Goode and wife, Kathy of Gaffney; two sisters, Betty McCullough and husband, Niles and Patsy Terry, both of Gaffney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Dean Ray of Liberty Hill. Mrs. Goode was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Faye Childers; two sons, Thad Thomas Goode and George Edward Goode; a brother, Bill Sparks; a granddaughter; a grandson, and two great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2104 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Culbertson and Mrs. Vernell Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Joe Goode, Donald Goode, Clyde Goode, Johnny Goode, Eric Goode and Tommy Goode.

The family will be at the home of Donald and Debbie Goode, 399 Asbury Road, Pacolet.
