Mrs. Mary Lou Phillips, 85, of Camden, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, May 4, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home in Florence, SC. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at New Hope Church in Camden. Rev. Lyn Hill will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Memorials may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to New Hope Church, 9105 Liberty Hill Road, Camden, SC 29020

Mary Lou Phillips was born in Kershaw, SC, the only daughter of the late T.J. and Annie Grace Clyburn Gregory. She graduated from Kershaw High School and Winthrop College. Mary Lou was a local employee of DuPont in Camden for 36 years. She was a charter member of Northgate Colonial Baptist Church (New Hope) and worked faithfully in the nursery and sang in the choir. Mary Lou enjoyed bridge, working in her yard and caring for many pet dogs over the years. She usually picked the dog no one else wanted and loved and cared for them just like a child.

Mary Lou is survived by her brothers Tom Gregory (Dot) of Kershaw, SC, Lanny Gregory (Cathy) of Florence, SC; a special sister-in-law, Hilda Smith of Harrisburg, NC; sister-in-law, Susan Gregory of Lugoff, and a dear friend, Rosa Lee Marturano. She loved her many nieces and nephews. Mary Lou will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Morris H. Phillips and her brother, Bobby Gregory.
