Mrs. Mary Elinore Ramos

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elinore Ramos, 80, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and then laid to rest with her husband in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation following until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Ramos went to be with "Our" Heavenly Father, on Monday, January 6, 2014. She was born to the late John Frances and Margaret Mary "Maggie" Kuhn Pinsch in Stanley, Wis. on September 29, 1933. Mrs. Ramos graduated from Stanley High School and Eau Claire Teachers College with a degree in finance, accounting and teaching. She later taught English while living in the Dominican Republic. Due to her husband’s military career, she traveled extensively. Mrs. Ramos retired from Ft. Jackson’s Officers Club as a catering manager, where she made many friends since moving to Columbia in 1969. She loved to read, crochet, knit, travel, fish and spend time with her grandchildren at their beach house. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and active in the Catholic community at Ft. Jackson.

Surviving are her children, Alan Ramos (Tina), Eric Ramos, Lori Copley (Dr. Don Copley); grandchildren, Callie, John, David, and Matthew Copley and Mandy Hughes; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Maj. Edil Ramos de Marquez; siblings, Clarence Pinsch (Bertha "Bertie"), Richard Pinsch (infant), Clara Fitzl (Joe), Ivodahl Fitzl (Ray), Margaret "Aunt Mugs" Booth (Carroll), Genevieve M. "Genny" Nichols (Harry), Pauline Booth (Darrell), Marcelene Larson (Norman), Caroledene Richards (Sherrie B.); and grandson, Justin Hughes.

Mary touched many lives and will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.
