A memorial service to celebrate the life of Melonie Ann Bailey Nelson, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Northeast Church in Columbia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northeast Church, 745 Old Clemson Road, Columbia, SC 29229.

Melonie B. Nelson, 54, of Lugoff, SC, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2017. Mrs. Nelson was born in Landstuhl, Germany April 6, 1963 and later resided in Dalzell, SC. She received her A.S. degree from the University of South Carolina, Sumter and her B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. She worked for a time at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a trainer until the birth of her son, Kenneth McKenzie Nelson.

Mrs. Nelson was very active in her church, loved caring for others, enjoyed scrapbooking, couponing, antiquing and music. She also loved the beach and the mountains, and selling Premier Design Jewelry.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lt Col Larry K. Nelson, USAF Aux. and their son, Kenneth McKenzie Nelson of Lugoff. Her family included her mother, the late Joyce Elizabeth Nolte; father, Mack G. Bailey; brothers, Charles Bailey of Puyallup, WA, and Daniel Bailey of Lugoff; and her sister, Linda Warren of Aiken.

Mrs. Nelson was predeceased by her mother, Joyce, and her brother, Mack Bailey, Jr.

Thanks to the staff of Providence Hospital, 6 Heart and Fresenius Kidney Care of Columbia and Lugoff for her care during this time.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
