Michael Joseph Mallia died peacefuly on February 14 with his loving Sister Marilyn Mallia Cockfield by his side.

Michael was predeceased by his wife Nancy Roberts Mallia, Father Joseph Anthony Mallia, Mother Olga D. Mallia and sister Michele Patricia Mallia. He is survived by his two sons Christopher and Eric Mallia.

Michael is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals including the Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Services Army Commendation and American Serices Medal. He was born the only son of Olga and Joseph Mallia in Buffalo, NY and grew up in Camden, SC. Michael was an active in golf and diving in High School where he also participated in a SC State Championship Marching Band. He went on to attend Old Dominion University and was a graduate of Presidio of Monterey California, the US Military's Institute of Foreign Language.

Michael continued to be an avid golfer playing with friends and family at every opportunity. He loved the beach and was happiest with a good book, bright sunshine and the waves crashing close by. He also was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous where he will be dearly missed by many friends in Columbia, SC. His family would like to express their deepest apreciation to the family of his late Wife Nancy; John and Mae Roberts along with their daughter Kathy provided endless love and affection for Michael, Chris and Eric and still do today. Their support was invaluable to Michaels family during his bout with Cancer and for years before.

Michael was a kind and gentle man, he will be dearly missed by a loving family, but never forgotten for his encouragement and support for them all.

Services are to be help this Sunday at 3PM, Park Street Baptist Church, 2204 Park Street, Columbia SC. The family encourages donations in his name the The American Cancer Society.
