Michael William Scronce, age 63, passed on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, from 5:00-7:00 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2014. A long-time resident of Camden, SC, Michael grew up in Vale, NC. He is the son of Clara Leatherman Scronce and the late A. Z. Scronce. Michael graduated from Fred T. Foard High School, attended Western Carolina University and graduated from East Carolina University. Michael and his family located to Camden, SC in 1974 where he worked for the Kendall Company. Later he worked for Hermitage Mills and supervised the design and construction of the Sheffield Plant addition. After leaving Hermitage, he established his own plumbing contractor business–S & K Services. In 1998 he joined Fairfield Electric Co-op and for the last 16 years enjoyed working as a member service representative.
Michael was a proud supporter of the academic and athletic programs at North Central High School where his children attended school and his wife was a teacher. He served two terms as President of the North Central Booster’s Club and volunteered his time to film football and basketball games for many years. He was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed spending his time with family.
Michael is survived by his wife Jeanne Jarrett Scronce; daughter, Jessica Scronce Koumas and husband Mark Koumas of Lugoff, SC and son, Alex Neal Scronce and wife Karen Morgan Scronce of Smyrna, SC. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Forrest Koumas, Jarrett Koumas, Quinn Koumas, Henry Scronce and Ada Scronce; his brother James V. Scronce and his wife Sherri Scronce; and niece Chris of Frankford, WVA.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Michael’s home town of Vale, NC.
