Myra Huntley Coates

Mrs. Myra Huntley Coates died on December 4 in the comforting atmosphere of the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. She was born January 6, 1926, in Bishopville, SC. She was the 11th of 13 children of William Edward and Bertha Reynolds Huntley.

Mrs. Coates is survived by her husband of 68 years, Everette Coates of Kershaw, SC. Mr. Coates is a former employee of Belk of Camden. Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Jewett (Mike) of Lancaster, SC and one sister, Myrtle Wolfe, of Orangeburg, SC. She was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

Despite many episodes of painful illness throughout her life, Mrs. Coates was very outgoing and cheerful. Mrs. Coates held several positions at the former Bank of Kershaw, including assistant cashier, and retired from the former First National Bank as a loan officer. She began her career as a bookkeeper for Baxley Appliances, and her last job was administrative assistant for The Baxley Company in Kershaw.

Funeral services were held December 5 at Shiloh Truelight Church in Mint Hill, NC with burial in the church cemetery.
