Nancy was the daughter of Hubert Elmer and Virginia Strange Kiser, born September 9, 1928 in Tazewell, Virginia. She graduated from Brenau College returning briefly to Tazewell to teach. She continued to teach when she moved to Martinsville, Virginia where she met the love of her life, Paul Fisher, her husband of over 57 years. Paul’s career with E. I. DuPont DeNemours, Inc. brought their family to many different locations during his career including Delaware, Virginia, NC and SC. Many of the locations were near the coastline where the family fell in love with water activities and planned many family gatherings. They eventually retired in Camden, SC. After retirement, she and Paul enjoyed being closer to their children and traveling with many of their friends.
She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served on many church committees. She was a member of several garden clubs in each location where she lived. She most recently enjoyed mentoring children at Jackson Elementary School. Her interest in cooking and sewing as well as water aerobics kept her active. Her love for cooking especially for others was an activity she enjoyed daily. She sincerely loved her family and looked forward to our many family gatherings for each special occasion.
Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dearly adored as Nannie by her family. Nancy loved her family and friends and was loved and admired by those who knew her. Surviving are her sons and daughter in laws, Marshall and Rosemary Fisher of Hickory, NC, Jeff and Chris Fisher, of Indialantic, FL; daughters and son-in-laws, Doug and Lee Sheorn, Columbia, SC, John and Laura Hodge, Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter and grandson in law, Callie and Andrew Dobbins, Huntersville, NC, grandchildren, Michael Fisher, Raleigh, NC; Corie Fisher, Portland, OR, Stacy and Doug Fisher, Indialantic, FL; Ben, Hampton, and Claire Hodge, Spartanburg, SC; Marshall and Olivia Sheorn, Columbia, SC; great grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Grace Dobbins, Huntersville, NC; a brother Hubert Elmer "Puck" and Ann Kiser, Martinsville, VA.
