Nelle continued her education at Winthrop College in Rock Hill where she studied bookkeeping. Her professional career began at Thomas & Howard Company where she worked in the office and met her future husband, Jack Stein. The couple made their home and raised their three daughters in Camden. In addition to Nelle’s excellent homemaking skills and her reputation as a great cook, she worked as a bookkeeper at the former Camden Hospital when it became a nursing home, Jaclyn Mills and as a bookkeeper for the late Judge and Speaker Pro-Tem Claytor Arrants.
Nelle was very active in her church, was an excellent bridge player and was always available to cook a meal for anyone in time of crisis.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside of Camden for the gentle, loving care they gave her during her final years. They would also like to thank all the friends and family who visited and called to brighten her days.
