Nellie Edwards Bruce, 84, of Camden, formerly of Abbeville, died Sunday, June 17, 2012.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Pearl Edwards. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Lander College. Mrs. Bruce was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Abbeville. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Abbeville, the Jack Woolbright Sunday School Class and the Agape Circle. She was a former Sunday school teacher and served on the administrative board and as a church trustee at Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Joe T. Bruce of Camden; her son, Joseph T. Bruce Jr. of Camden; her daughter, Martha Bruce, and family friend, Peggy Spivey, of Camden; and her brother and sister-in-law, Professor and Mrs. Calvin R. Edwards of Brevard, N.C.

The family will receive friends in Camden from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the home of Joseph T. Bruce Jr., 2115 Kendall St.

The family will receive friends in Abbeville from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in Melrose Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Wayman Coleman III.
