A funeral service to celebrate the life of Netta Pauline Covington Sills, 97, of Camden, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Rev. David Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM, 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at 2:30 PM in Tatum Cemetery, Tatum, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.

Netta, widow of the late Cecil A. Sills, died Sunday, October 14, 2018. She was born on March 31, 1921 in Bennettsville, SC, the daughter of the late Charlie Carol and Lottie Lee Dosey Covington. Netta was the wife of a Navy officer who became a Civil Engineer with the Air Force, which allowed he to move to different locations in the US, including Hawaii. During her travels, she worked in the United Methodist Church with the Youth Methodist Women Association and was Den Mother for Cub Scouts of America. Netta spent the rest of her life, from the early 1970’s, in Camden where she has been a member of the Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and the caregiver for her mother and husband until their final days.

Surviving are her two sons, Donald J. “Don” Sills and Cecil D. “Del” Sills (Kay), both of Camden; two granddaughters, Lisa Feix and Tabitha Riggs; two great-granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Feix, of Florida. She also had two Chihuahua dogs, Pedro and Tinker and the late Li’l Taco.

Besides her husband and parents, Netta was predeceased by her three brothers, Malcolm, Glen and Archie Covington; and her sister, Thelma Foster.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
