A funeral services to celebrate the life of Ophelia Dixon Hayes, 84, of Camden will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Hermitage Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Dr. Condy Richardson and Rev. Mark Hopkins will officiate. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Hayes’s memory to Hermitage Baptist Church Building Fund, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Camden, SC 29020 or A. Sam Karesh Wing, 1315 Roberts St., Camden, SC 29020.
Mrs. Hayes died Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Born in Darlington, she was the daughter of the late Barney Wallace and Evie Parnell Dixon. She was retired with Hermitage Mill. She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church and Gleaners Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Everett Hayes of 66 years; her children, daughters: Brenda Broadway and her husband Howard of Camden, Debra Smith and her husband Jimmy of Cassatt, her sons Eddie Hayes and his wife Zinda, and Michael Hayes and his wife Ann of Camden; grandchildren, Chip Browning, Kristie Williams, Chad Hayes, Kyle Smith, Melissa Hayes and Michael Hayes; great-grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Player, Frances Caulder, Helen Threatt and Annette Gardner; brothers, Wallace Dixon and Charles Dixon. She was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Shoemake and Bonnie Horton.
