A memorial service celebrating the life of Patricia Gail Alger-Benson, 68, of Lugoff, SC will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM. at Blaney Baptist Church. Rev. Philip Blankenship will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, July25, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Memorials may be made in her memory to Blaney Baptist Church, 1400 Blaney Road, Elgin, SC 29045.

Mrs. Alger-Benson, wife of Buddy R. Benson, was born in Inez, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Laura Tipton Stepp and Melvin Stepp. Patricia worked as an LPN and had served as a Lieutenant in the SC State Guard. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Blaney Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Alger-Benson is survived by children, Richard DeVors(Karen),

Stephanie Brazell (Darrell), Bethanie Alongi, Joshua Alger, Timothy Alger, Kaitlyn Alger, Becky Melton (William) and Tina Parrent; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; siblings,

Charles Stepp, Verlie McAvoy (Darrell), Bonnie Tyner (Frank), Dale Stepp (Sue), and Vicki Aldridge (Vic), and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings, Mary Elizabeth Stepp, Anna Margaret Stepp, Richard Carroll Stepp, Melvin Stepp, Jr. Merman Stepp and Becky Neal, and former husband William Alger.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is assisting the family.
