Peggy Tate Wallace, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, N.C.

Peggy was born on October 14, 1931, to the late Leroy and Clara Tate. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ken Tate of Belmont, NC and Dan Tate of Reidsville, NC.

Peggy was a devoted and loving wife, mother of four children and MiMi to eight grandchildren.

She was born in Belmont. As a precious three-year old, she was crowned “Little Miss Belmont”. She attended Woman’s College in Greensboro (now UNCG). She and her husband Gene were married in 1959 and celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on February 28th. For nearly 50 years she worked as Treasurer and bookkeeper at Wallace Textiles in Gastonia. She was active in her children’s schools and activities and also enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Through the years she served in many capacities at her church, First United Methodist in Gastonia. She was a member and officer of the Star Dusters Dance Club and was a member of the Gastonia Debutante Club.

She is survived by her husband Gene of Gastonia, son Tom Wallace and wife Erika of Gastonia, daughter Lundi Glover and husband Tommy of Cornelius, NC, son Mike Wallace and wife Leslie of Gastonia, and daughter Charlotte Rankin and husband Scott of Camden, SC; eight grandchildren Heather and Wesley Glover, Hunter and Parker Rankin, Michael and Rob Wallace, and Jessica and Meredith Wallace. 

The family will receive friends at McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Gastonia with the Revs. David Christy and Jim Westmoreland officiating. Additionally, the family will receive friends following the Memorial Service on Thursday. Interment will be private

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Gaston Hospice and Robin Johnson Hospice House for their compassionate and loving care extended to Peggy.
