Rainbow, husband of Paulette Hancock Player, died Saturday, November 19, 2016. He was born in Timmonsville, SC, the son of the late Tommie Carroll Player and Ellen Charles Player. Rainbow served as a Radio Operator in the US Navy and was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church.

It reads in the book of Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself. “Randy “Rainbow” Player lived by this strongly; however, he loved his neighbor much more than himself. Everyone who had the honor of knowing this man knows exactly what this means. Rainbow was the most kindhearted, loving, and most wonderful person to be around. On a day-to-day basis, he was constantly surrounded by smiling faces and people laughing, because they were in his presence. He was a devoted husband, loving father and brother, and a great friend. There will always be a void in the life of anyone that knew him because of the way he made them feel. He always had an incredible ability of turning sadness into laughter, hatred into love, and birdie putts into bogeys. He has touched so many people in so many ways and will continue to do so as his legend will live on. The loving aura that continually surrounded him and the enormous heart that beat within his chest will remain within his family and friends forever.

Rainbow is survived by his wife; daughters, Elizabeth Player of Tampa, FL and Heidi Lilja-Donker of Oslo, Norway; son, Neal R. Player of Florence, SC; 3 grandchildren; sister, Constance Player Nelson (Gary Don Edge) of Winston Salem, NC; brother, T. Carroll Player, Jr. (Nancy) of Florence, SC; and 3 nieces and 5 nephews. Rainbow was also survived by his beloved cocker spaniel, Lola. They shared much of everyday together.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
