Rev. Marian Woodle Dyer

The Reverend Marian Ruthe Woodle Dyer, 53, of Pomaria, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at her residence.

Born on February 11, 1959, in Chester, she was a daughter of Clarence Marion and Hattie Ruthe Parker Woodle. She was a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School and received her undergraduate degree from Columbia College and her Master of Divinity from Erskine Theological Seminary. She was the pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Rev. Dyer was adventurous and loved traveling and being on the water. She loved exploring the world always looking to see what was around the mountain. Epworth Camp was a special place for her. She was a dedicated military wife and always a true friend.

Rev. Dyer is survived in addition to her parents, Clarence and Hattie Woodle of Elgin by her husband, Mikell D. Dyer; a daughter, Adrian Ruthe Dyer of the home; a sister, Frances Woodle Lundy of Lugoff, and brothers, Paul Woodle of Belton and Michael Woodle of Columbia.

A worship service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Glenn Davis and Rev. Faith Weedling. Burial will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2360 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
