A memorial service celebrating the life of Ricky Alan Courtney, 53, of Camden, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Camden. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Ricky’s memory to Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Ricky Alan Courtney, husband of Kathi Worthy Courtney was born in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Donald Ray Courtney of Kingston, OK and Maud Hall Johnson of Hinton, OK. He worked in South Carolina with Hospice for 15 years.  Rick loved caring for his patients and treated each one like family.  Rick also enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing golf with his buddies and collecting his beloved Jewel Tea Autumn Leaf China.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Kathi; daughter, Jada Courtney Williams (Dustin) of Hinton, OK; sons, Jacob Ray Courtney, of Hinton, OK and Shaine Cobb (Leslie) of North Augusta, S.C.; grandchildren, Isabella Beck, Piper Williams, Grayson Williams, Kennedy Cobb, Avery Courtney and Keegan Cobb; father, Donald and step-mother, Carol Courtney; mother, Maud Johnson; and sisters, Kay Dyer (Charles) and Jaime Hayles and brother, Garrie Johnson (Alicia). Ricky was predeceased by a sister, Donna Wood.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
