Robert Edward Craig, 90, of Camden, SC, died Sunday, January 11, 2015. A funeral service for Mr. Craig will be private. Memorials may be made in Mr. Craig’s memory to Walter M. Crowe Animal Shelter, 460 S. Fair Street, Camden, SC 29020. Mr. Craig was born in Newport News, VA, the son of the late Earnest Ervin Craig and Addie Bell Smiley Craig. He was retired from DuPont, was in the Army Air Corp and was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Robert will be remembered for his love of family and active involvement in their lives. He especially enjoyed encouraging and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sports activities. Everyone knew his passion for animals, particularly family pets. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, as well as a creative woodworker. Mr. Craig is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Hoard Craig; his daughters, Mary Craig Watts (Michael) of Augusta, GA and Susan Hope Craig of Camden; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Craig was predeceased by his sister, Edith Hope Craig. Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
