Ruth Ashworth Henderson, of Lake Wateree and Camden, SC and the loving wife of Frank M. Henderson for 62 years, died on June 8, 2011. Ruth, who was an outstanding cook and hostess and who devoted most of her life to unselfishly helping and caring for others, was loved by many. She was born April 18, 1930, in Brevard, NC, daughter of the late John and Drucilla Ashworth. A long-time member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church and member and past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Camden Shrine Club, past officer of the Order of the Eastern Star and past Queen of the Order of the Nile. Ruth was a dedicated and tireless supporter of charities of the Shriners and the Country Store and other activities of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her husband, Frank, and her children and grandchildren, Diane H. Davidson and her husband Darl Davidson and their daughter Jessica of Isle of Palms, SC, Steve K. Henderson and his wife Michele Cox Henderson and their daughter Laura of Fort Mill, SC, Elaine H. Fowler and her husband Sam B. Fowler, Jr. and their sons, Jason and Ross of Isle of Palms, SC and her "adopted" daughter, Patty Kelly of Beaver Creek.

A service in celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Lakeside Pavilion at Windward Pointe on Lake Wateree, Camden, SC. Rev. Gene Rollins will officiate.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
