A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sidney Dunbar Jones Jackson, 90, of Camden, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 16, 2017 at Grace Episcopal Church. Rev. Dr. Philip Whitehead will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in Richardson Hall. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church Choir, 1315 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Sidney died Tuesday, June 6, 2017. She was born in Augusta, GA, the daughter of the late Isaac Franklin Jones and Gertrude Dunbar Jones. Sidney attended Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, NC and USC. She was Treasurer for many years for the Hobkirk Hill Chapter of the DAR, a member of the Camden Community Theatre, the Kershaw County Hospital Board, and past member and head of the Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, a member of Kershaw County Chamber Choir and Secretary/Treasurer of Traders of Camden. Sidney was a life member of Grace Episcopal Church, as well as a choir and Altar Guild member, a graduate of EfM.  

Sidney is survived by her daughters, Lyn Godwin of Camden and Mary Jackson Willis (Richard H.) of Columbia; grandchildren, Joseph Randolph Jackson, Richard Prescott Willis and Sarah Bradford Willis; and her great-granddaughter, Alexis Marion Jackson.

Sidney was predeceased by her parents, husband, Joseph “Joe” Clyburn Jackson; son, Randolph Dunbar Jones Jackson; 

The family would like to thank Sidney’s caregivers, Zippy West, Hattie Loynes, Ruth Ladson, Alicia Cook, Elizabeth Johnson, Catherine Gregory and Carolyn Murphy.
