Thelma J. Miller-Johnson, 78, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Psalm Johnson passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.  Born September 23, 1936 in Camden, SC daughter of Blanche (Whitaker) Miller of Hamden, CT and the late Willis Miller.  She grew up in Camden, SC and graduated from Maher Academy, Camden, SC.  She continued her education at Greater Hartford Community College for nursing.  She retired from Southern New England Telephone after 24 ½ years of employment.  While living in New Haven, CT she was a member of the Pocahontas Temple #55, and member of the Knickerbocker Golf Club.  Once she settled in East Hartford she became a member of the Airways Golf Club, Suffield and she enjoyed attending the Bloomfield Senior Center.  Thelma was an avid bowler and Bid Whist player.  Thelma always presented herself as a lady, the way she dressed, the way she would light up a room when entering and with her smile.  Above all she was a devoted wife, sister and daughter.  Besides her husband and mother she is survived by a sister, Willie Mae Walker of Hamden, CT; a stepson, Ronald Dailey; a stepdaughter, Robin Miller; a god daughter, Joi Miller; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Johnson and Shirley B. Miller; a brother-in-law, Joe Young; two nieces, Debera Hines and Esther and her husband Abner Nelms of Atlanta, GA; good friends, Bob and Sue Kemp, Bill and Lisa Crawford and the Thompson family; and all her golf friends at Keney Park and a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2014, 12 PM, at Zion Hill AME Zion Church, 1262 Lockhart Rd., Camden, SC.  Burial will be in Zion Hill AME Zion Church Cemetery, Camden, SC.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St - I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.  George Collins Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
