Mr. Thomas Allen White, 86, of Lancaster, widower of Martha McManus White, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born January 19, 1927 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Baxter White and Hattie Jane Caskey White. Mr. White was a member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church. He had retired from Springs Industries following forty-two years of service and was a US Army World War Two Veteran. Mr. White was a Mason and member of Jackson Lodge # 53, the Hejaz Shrine Temple and the Jackson Shrine Club.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. White was held Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, the Rev. Greg Sweet officiated. Entombment was in the Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
Mr. White is survived by a son, James B. White and his wife, Debra, of Lancaster; a daughter, Carolyn White Watts of Lugoff; two sisters, Elizabeth Barr and Judy Whitaker both of Lancaster; a brother, Donald White of Lancaster; a brother-in-law, Bill McManus of Lancaster; his sister-in-law, Roxie Morgan of Lancaster; his grandchildren, Michelle Crane, Steven Watts, Wayne Watts, Jamie White, Brian Boswell and Michael Barrett; his great-grandchildren, Dawson White, Jackson White, Collier Crane, Prewitt Crane, Fletcher Crane, and Sydney Watts; and his special son-in-law, Johnny Watts. He was preceded in death by his siblings, William B. White, Jr. and Charles Marion White.
The family received friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Lancaster Funeral Home and will receive other times at the home of Bobby and Judy Whitaker, 5505 Pageland Highway, Lancaster.
