Sumter -- Tillman Washington “T.J.” Player, Jr., 73, husband of the late Nancy Ellen Culler Player, died Monday, August 29, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born December 5, 1942, in NC, he was a son of Mary Kate Giddens Player and the late Tillman W. Player, Sr.  He attended New Calvary Baptist Church and was an antiques dealer.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his mother of Camden; three sons, Eric Watts (Gay) of Knoxville, TN, Rob Dinkins (Tina) of Sumter, and Lt. Col. Mike Dinkins (Anna) of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Renee Caviness (Mike) of Lexington and Monica Squires (Terry) of Sumter; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Player (Elizabeth) of Camden; a sister, Carliss Carter (Graham) of Camden; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 A.M. Thursday in the Limestone United Methodist Church in Orangeburg with the Rev. David Richardson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
