Service for Victor Robert Bowdler, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in the Chapel of Celestial Memorial Gardens, officiating will be Rev. Gene Brown. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening, December 19, 2011, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Victor died Thursday, December 15, 2011. Born November 17, 1931, in Cipolleti, Argentina, he was a son of Southern Baptist foreign missionaries, George A. Bowdler, Sr. and Ruth Nicholson Bowdler. He dearly loved his parents and two brothers and sister and remembered his childhood days with fondness. He was educated at Stonybrook School in New York, William Jewell College in Missouri and Iowa State University. Victor served in the U.S. Army, ran his own business in Los Angeles, CA for thirty years, and worked for Pizza Hut for twenty years in West Columbia, SC. He loved Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and faithfully served him for eighty years. He was always ready to pray for everyone at any hour. He was an animal lover, a gifted artist and spoke fluent Spanish.
Victor deeply appreciated his friend, Cornelia Pahien, of Hamburg, Germany, his friend, Dr. Sara Bell at Dorn VA Hospital and Pastor Gene Brown and members of Wildewood Worship Center, Lugoff, SC.
The family thanks the church, the Palmetto Richland Inpatient Hospice, and Dorn VA Hospital for their wonderful care of Victor for twenty years.
Surviving are his brothers, William Bowdler and George Bowdler; nieces, Patsy Stewart, and Debbie Robin; and nephews, Gordon Bowdler and David Bowdler.
