Virginia "Jennie" Juanita Branham Hearon

Jennie Hearon, of Lugoff, died on May 7, 2012 at the age of 81, after an extended illness.

Jennie was born in Woodward, SC on January 28, 1931, graduated from the Camden Schools and retired from the Kershaw County Courthouse. She was raised in the Lugoff Baptist Church and later became a member of the Camden Seventh Day Adventist Church. Jennie maintained her dedication to her faith and church, remaining actively involved in various church programs throughout her life. She was a strong, determined woman with a good heart who will be remembered for her continued devotion to her family. Jennie loved to read, garden, and was an excellent and adventurous cook. Her dog, Candy, was her dear companion to the end. She lived most of her life in Lugoff, SC, moving to a cottage near her daughter in Summerville in 2007.

Jennie is survived by a son, R. Ashley Hearon (Jimmy Sheppard) of Columbia; daughter, Rose Marie Locklair (Shannon) of Summerville; grandchildren,, Brian Nettles (Johanna), Jeremy Price (Allie), Jessica Kirby (Andrew), Emerald Hearon and four great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Dean Branham (Leslie), Lugoff.

Preceding Jennie in death were her mother, Ollie Rose Branham; father, Howard Finley Branham; husband, William Hearon; son, Terry Shavon Hearon, who was killed in the Vietnam War combat in 1967 and sister, Delana Branham Reynolds. Jennie has joined her family members and will be greatly missed by all that knew her and have been left behind.

The family sincerely thanks caregivers, Tina Elliott and Emma Halley for their tender devotion and assistance during her final illness as well as the personnel from Agape Hospice. These caregivers not only offered comfort to Jennie as a patient, but also to her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 9301 Medical Plaza Drive, North Charleston, SC 29406. The family will have a private gathering to celebrate their Mother’s life.
