Funeral services for Mr. Wade Aiken  “Bubba” Green, Sr., 72, who died peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2017, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Bishopville, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, 7 Richland Medical Park Dr., Columbia, SC 29203.

Mr. Green was born in Columbia, SC to the late Francis Laval “Pete” Green, Jr. and the late Mary Hazel Aiken Green. He grew up in Kingstree and Bishopville and attended Lee County schools. He also attended Clemson University. Mr. Green served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was also a member of the South Carolina National Guard for over 20 years. He was married to Jean Shiver who was the mother of his children. He worked for the South Carolina Association of Counties and then was the Vice President of Legislative Affairs at Clemson University for 30 years. He was an avid Clemson fan, enjoyed boating and water recreation, and had a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, Wade Aiken (Meg) Green, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughters, Kathryn “Kitt” Green Beasley of Camden, SC, Aimee Shiver Green of Camden, SC; brother, Val Green of Blair, SC, sister-in-law, Susan Green of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren, Jinna Ray, Karley Ray, Leah Ray, Braxton Beasley, Gracean Beasley, Tripp Ray, Makenzie (Bryce) McCaskill, Emaree Ray; great-grandchildren, Aubree Hall, Alivia Hall, Adalyn Cleverly, Maddalyn McCaskill; numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Yancey Green.
