William Vernon "Bill" Arrants, U. S. Marine Corps (Ret.), 82, of Beaufort, South Carolina, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, he was the son of the late Vernon Arrants and the late Mary McClung Arrants. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1946 after graduation from Goodwater High School in Goodwater, Alabama. During his time in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Arrants served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1974. After his retirement, Mr. Arrants was employed with The Beaufort Gazette as a typesetter until his retirement in 1993.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.

The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service. Interment will be in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
