Graveside funeral services with military honors to celebrate the life of William Daniel Vinson, Jr., 86, of Rembert, will be held Friday, December 10, 2010, at 2:00 PM in Quaker Cemetery, Camden, S.C. The Rev. Sheila Rogers and the Rev. Frank Griffith will officiate.

Mr. Vinson, who died on Sunday, December 5, 2010, was predeceased by his wife, Betty Roberts Vinson. The son of the late William Daniel Vinson, Sr. and Francis Alberta Yongue Vinson, he was born in Rembert and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Mr. Vinson was a United States Army Air Corps veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in Burma and India during World War II as a member of the 879th Airborne Engineers Company A. Mr. Vinson retired from DuPont, having worked as a supervisor for most of his time there. After his retirement, he enjoyed operating his small antique store in Rembert. Mr. Vinson was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a steadfast father who was devoted to caring for his immediate and extended family.

He is survived by his son, W. Daniel Vinson, III, of Camden. He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Vinson Duckett. Mr. Vinson is also survived by a sister, Catherine E. Niemi. He was predeceased by his sister, Sarah V. Emanuel.
