William Hawthorne, Sr.

William Edward Hawthorne, Sr., 79, of Bishopville, widower of Mable Lucille Hawthorne, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his home.

Born in Pickens County, AL, he was a son of the late Edward Hawthorne and the late Clara Bush Hawthorne. Mr. Hawthorne was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was retired from DuPont. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Lake (Eli) of AZ; two sons, William E. Hawthorne, Jr. (Dianne) and Murray Hawthorne (Lee McPherson) both of Camden; sisters, Annie Mae Shuttlesworth (Fred) and Betty Simmons; brothers, Eddie Hawthorne (Dorothy), Charles Hawthorne (Marilyn), Richard Hawthorne (Barbara); six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Monday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Blackmon, Jody McClintock, Travis Hawthorne, Corey Dowey, Pedro King, Jamye Locklear, and Roger Morris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Spitzer and Billy Hawthorne, III.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at 76 Hunting Inc. Rd., Camden.
