Funeral service for William Henry Smyrl, 63, was held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Camden, with the burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The Rev. Bruce Hancock officiated.  The family received friends Saturday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to The Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 1333, Camden, S.C.  29020 or First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, S.C.  29020.

Mr. Smyrl went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, November 6, 2014.  Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Henry Lloyd and Willie Mae Horton Smyrl. He was an Accountant/Tax Consultant and owned Padgett Business Service in Northeast Columbia.  He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School leader and a member of Men’s Ministry.  He was a member of The Gideon’s International Camden Camp.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Sandra Halsall Smyrl; children, William Tanner Smyrl (Audrey) of Brussels, Belgium and Sara Smyrl Sanders (Robert) of Sugar Land, Texas; grandchildren, Shelby Noel Smyrl, Bo Kennebrew Sanders, William “Liam” Athan Smyrl and Justus Evan Sanders; brother, James Lloyd Smyrl (Donna) of West Columbia, S.C.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
