A celebration of life service for William “Bill” Kent Singleton, 90, of Camden, SC, will be held at 4:00 PM, today, March 31, 2017 at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Rev’s. Steve Patterson and Frank Griffith will officiate. A reception will be held following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Food for the Soul, 110 E. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020 or Gandy/Holford Music Fund at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.  

Bill, husband of Betty Bain Singleton, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was born in Talladega, AL, the son of the late Roy Lafayette Singleton and Devera Hazelwood Singleton. Bill received his BS in Textile Engineering in 1952 from Auburn University. He retired from DuPont as a Senior Research Engineer. Bill was in the US Army and served in the Philippines during WWII. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities throughout the years.

William is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Linda S. Higgins (Sam) of Camden; son, Kent Bain (Brenda) Singleton of Camden; grandchildren, Rene’ Barron (Kevin), William Lee McLaughlin (Denise) and Jonathan Patrick Higgins; great-grandchildren, Kayla Reed, Abigail Reed, William Robert McLaughlin (Bridget) and Nicole McLaughlin; great-great grandson, William “Liam” McLaughlin; brother, James Cooper Singleton (Barbara) of Greensboro, NC; and friend and caregiver, Anthony “Tony” Greene.

William was predeceased by his son, Wayne Alan Singleton and brother-in-law, William L. Bain, Jr.
