A funeral service to celebrate the life of Willie Mae Greene Bowers of Camden, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Gene Stokes will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the church and at other times at the Kambeitz home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1643 McRae Road, Camden, SC 29020.

Willie Mae, widow of the late Ward O. Bowers, died April 25, 2019. Willie Mae was born in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late John J. and Nettie Faulkenberry Greene. She was the oldest living member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, retired from BC Moore and was a “huge” Atlanta Braves fan. She loved gardening, her cat, Gypsy, and most all, she loved cooking for her family.

Willie Mae is survived by her children, Otis Bowers (Jayne), Judy Kambeitz (Carl); Lynn Bowers, Tim Bowers (Cindy); sisters, Eula Roberts, Mildred Crimminger, Katheryn Madden and Shelby Crimminger; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband, Willie Mae was predeceased by siblings, Coleman Greene, Perry Greene, Gladys Arant, Ethel Payne, Jane Bowers and Ann Gordon; grandson Chris Bowers and daughter in law Karen McCoy Bowers.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
