Funeral service for Willie Mae Truesdell, 86, of 530 Knights Hill Road in Camden will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may visit at 1586 Hall Road in Cassatt. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7PM - 9PM, Friday, September 7th. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Willie Mae, affectionately known as "Willa Mae", passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2012 at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center in Bishopville, South Carolina where she was a long term resident.
Born in Cassatt, South Carolina, she moved to Massachusetts as a young girl, met and married Joseph N. Truesdell. They raised their family in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. She became an active member of Mt. Olive Pentacostal Church in Worcester, MA and retired back to Camden in 1989.
She became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she sang on the choir and was a member of several other committees.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Truesdell of 57 years who passed in 2006.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Terri Truesdell of Cassatt, SC and Edward and Kym Hampton of Worcester, MA; a daughter, January Truesdell of Florida; two grandsons, Jason Truesdell of Camden, SC and Justin truesdell of Florida;three granddaughters, Natalie Hampton (Howard University) Washington, DC, Jasmine Hampton(Pace University) New York and Kamille Hampton (Wentworth University) Boston, MA; five great grandchildren,Gracious Missouri, Dustin Truesdell, Jr., Destiny Truedsell, Savannah Rennick and Jenesis Truesdell.
