Mark your calendars for June 17 to enjoy a rare music opportunity coming to the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC.) A special duo performance by Geoff Achison and Randall Bramblett is slated for June 17 in the Wood Auditorium. A special welcoming cocktail hour is planned for 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Wood Auditorium with the concert immediately following at 8 p.m. Tickets to this special evening of blues rock music are $15 for adults, and $10 for students, seniors and military.
Geoff Achison, an Australian native, is a musician of remarkable ability who has forged his own path and won fans all over the world. Having taught himself to play in the isolation of rural Australia, he developed a blues/funk style all his own that can be delicate one moment and explosive the next. Achison is also a very capable vocalist with a gritty, soulful quality to his voice.
His annual tours have extended throughout Australia, the UK and US, playing either his immensely popular solo acoustic shows, or hiring the best musicians available to form his band The Souldiggers.
Achison has won a number of awards over the years for writing, performing and recording. In 2007, Geoff & The Souldiggers picked up the Chain Blues Music Award in Australia for “Group Of The Year” and a Guitar Player Magazine readers’ poll voted Geoff one of their “Top Ten Hot New Guitarists” in June 2008.
Randall Bramblett may not be a household name, but he is legendary within music circles for his songwriting and musicianship. He released a pair of acclaimed solo albums in the mid-‘70s, then joined the jazz-rock outfit Sea Level, becoming their principal songwriter and vocalist.
