The Camden Junior Welfare League will be holding its Annual Belle of the Ball Event in February. Belle of the Ball started as a project for the league’s provisional members and has become a CJWL tradition. Each year before prom time, the CJWL gathers and sorts donated formal dresses and then offers them for free to needy teens referred by area high schools. Local businesses also help support BOTB by offering complimentary services for raffle prizes including hair and nail salon services, dress alterations and dry cleaning, restaurant gift certificates, and sunless tanning. The CJWL is looking for donations of dresses, accessories, and shoes. Items can be dropped off at any City Laundry location before Feb. 18. If you are a business who would like to donate your services, please email email@example.com.
The purpose of the League is to improve and enrich the social and economic environment of the children of Kershaw County, foster among its members interest in social, cultural, economic, and civil affairs of Camden and Kershaw County, and to render voluntary services for the betterment of such affairs. The Junior Welfare League motto is "My Part is to improve the present moment." Membership of the League is comprised of active and provisional members, who live or work in Kershaw County and are under the age of forty-five. In addition, those who have completed League requirements may maintain sustainer status. Those who have become sustainers give valuable assistance to current League members
