Karl Allen with Black River Rescue and his assistant Ann Marie Holland made presentations about bloodhounds at both the Camden and Elgin branches of the Kershaw County Library. The pair taught both children and adults how to respond if they find themselves lost in the woods, as well as clarified many misconceptions about the breed. Allen, a former deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, specializes in training and handling bloodhounds for search and rescue.
