Robert Ariail created a cartoon specifically for the Boykin Christmas Parade publicity.
Alice Boykin, John Carmichael and Hank Kerfoot, the organizing committee of the Boykin Christmas Parade, announce the 17th Parade on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. “The Parade is open to everyone, so get your group together and join us for a wonderful time,” said Alice Boykin, founder of the popular event, widely considered the largest Christmas parade in the South. The Presiding Spirit Commonly regarded as one of the great people in the Midlands, on a short list of two or three, Alice Boykin remains predictably modest about her achievements; she created the modern tourist center of Boykin out of a post office and a general store from the wreckage of Hurricane Hugo, and most notably she founded the Boykin Christmas Parade, although she is loathe to take credit. “This Christmas parade isn’t about me,” she maintains.
